Calling All Neurodivergent Artists:
We’re Seeking 26 illustrators for 26 Letters

A is for Actually, Wait… What? is a slightly chaotic, entirely relatable alphabet book perfect for ADHD parents, partners of ADHD parents, or anyone raising kids with a brain that likes to wander, spiral, hyperfocus, and lose the keys (again). Equal parts humor and solidarity, this is the alphabet book you didn’t know you needed but will definitely forget where you put.

The pages are full of inside jokes for ADHD parents ranging from "B is for…Big project energy" to "D is for...Dissociating in the produce aisle" to "I is for...I can still make it if I leave right now." The overall vibe is playful and highly giftable, in the vein of Go the F*ck to Sleep and All My Friends Are Dead.

Every one of the book's 26 letters will be illustrated by a different neurodivergent artist, each found through an open call and paid for their work. This is a charity project at its core, with net proceeds from the book going to The Neurodiversity Alliance, a nonprofit supporting students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences.

We're looking for 26 different neurodivergent artists (one per letter) to bring this book to life, and applications are open now through January 15, 2027. Each illustrator receives a stipend, a named credit in the book, and a published illustration credit for their portfolio. The book is slated for publication in summer/fall 2027.
