-Jen Calonita, author of The Fairy Tale Reform School series and Conceal, Don't Feel

"Aubrey Poole is one of the most knowledgeable editors I’ve ever worked with. She helped me turn rambling, serialized stories into organized manuscripts without sacrificing my voice. Her critiques were always thoughtful, constructive, and oftentimes made me smile. Instead of just pointing out what wasn’t working, she explained why. I carry those lessons with me to this day. If anyone is struggling to tell their story, I recommend turning to Aubrey for help."

-Ali Novak, author of My Life With the Walter Boys and The Heartbreakers

"Working with Aubrey Poole on my middle-grade novel was a wonderful experience. She’s creative, very funny and had a fantastic feel for the story. Her insights and suggestions kept the writing fresh for me and resulted in a much better book. She’s always honest and has an amazing knack for keeping the story focused. But most of all, she brought an energy to the work. Aubrey is extremely personable, our interactions were comfortable and productive, and she made me a better storyteller. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone undertaking a writing project."

-Ron Bates, author of The Unflushables

"Aubrey has a knack for clear and concise editorial feedback, and excels at working through an issue with care and respect to the author’s vision. She also has great attention to detail, and helped bring even the most complicated aspects of my story to a satisfying conclusion. Encouraging and supportive while at the same time dedicated to producing the best possible product, she is a pleasure to work with!"

-Lyndsay Ely, author of Gunslinger Girl

“I’ve worked with Aubrey on three novels. Her insightfulness and vision propelled each of my books to a much higher level – one I could never have reached without her thoughtful, constructive feedback. I still find myself relying on so many of the things I learned while working with her.”

-Nancy J. Cavanaugh, author of Bluebonnet nominated Always, Abigail

"I was fortunate to have worked with award-winning editor Aubrey Poole when I was a baby author still star-struck at the opportunity to have her debut novel published. Aubrey's expert guidance helped me level up and that first book led to a second and a third. Her patient attention to story, structure, and stakes elevated my work in ways I couldn't imagine. That third project finaled in RWA's prestigious Rita competition and took home CLMP's 2015 Firecracker Award, achievements I could not have attained without Aubrey's acumen. She possesses an uncanny ability to challenge my story ideas in ways that never broke my spirit or made me feel like an imposter. As I look to new publishing directions, I won't hesitate to work with Aubrey again."

-Patty Blount, award-winning author of Send and Boys Like Me

"My work with Aubrey as co-faculty at the Highlights Foundation helped reinforce for me the reputation she had at the at James Patterson's imprint where I was also publishing at the time, as a person who can be counted on for her approachability, her sense of humor in all things, and the way she so effortlessly translates her own editorial insights into practical, hands-on techniques that writers can use to improve their own craft--not somewhere down the line, but right now, today, on the page."

-Chris Tebbetts, bestselling author of Me, Myself and Him and the Middle School series

"I really enjoyed working with Aubrey. She was able to point out to me to how I could bring my stories up several notches to where they have a consistent quality and connect in the best possible way with the reader. I felt that she “got” my stories. Her feedback was easy to understand, and she offered suggestions rather than just pointing out what wasn’t working – this helped make the process of revision exciting rather than disheartening. She encouraged me to dig deeper into my stories and come up with new ideas. Aubrey didn’t just edit some of my manuscripts – I think her feedback helped make me a better writer for future projects."
