Creative Writing Tutorials

Do you have a creative kid or teen in your life? We offer private creative writing tutorials for kids ages 8-15. These are one-on-one tutorials conducted via email on a weekly or monthly basis. Your child receives a fun creative writing prompt, writes a short story or poem in response, and emails it back. We critique the piece of writing, noting both what we love about it and how it could be improved. (The critique consists of a 1-page single-spaced letter.)

College Essay Coaching

Yellow Bird founder Sara Kocek has 8+ years experience working privately with high school students to develop and refine outstanding college admissions essays. She does much more than help college applicants improve individual essays; she guides students through shaping their entire collection of essays and short-answer questions to hone the overall message they send to the admissions committee. Sara is available for coaching (guiding students through the brainstorming and drafting process) and editing (improving existing drafts). Most coaching and editing sessions are conducted via email and phone or video chat.
